Who We Are

We are actual fishermen, watermen, sailors who make our living from and love the sea. Little Fish is a small operation swimming against the corporatization of the fishing industry. Large companies and destructive fishing practices have made it more challenging for small-boat fishermen to succeed. Little Fish aims to address these challenges in our own little way.
Our facility provides local commercial (and sport) fishermen with the tools and resources needed to process their catch.

We understand the challenges of value adding because we experience them. Little Fish is dedicated to preserving the legacy and livelihoods of small-scale fishing families, as well as supporting responsible sport fishing activities and the enjoyment of our coast.

About Us

Little Fish Fine Seafood

Small-scale fishers (“little fish”) struggle as the fishing industry becomes more corporate. Large boats dominate catches, while a few big processors control pricing, limiting fair pay for small boat fishers.

With fewer independent fishers, monitoring of ocean health declines. Small boats often raise concerns about unsustainable fishing, but without them, environmental damage or stock decline may go unreported and unnoticed by most people until it is too late especially if government regulators are susceptible to being controlled by corporate interests.

Commercial aquaculture also threatens traditional fishing. While some farms are sustainable, large-scale ocean pen farming can harm ecosystems, fish, and consumers. Threatens traditional fishing as well as fragile ecosystems. While some land-based farms may be sustainable, large-scale industrial ocean pen farming can harm wild fish, ecosystems, and consumers.

Little Fish Fine Seafood Market supports small boat fishers by buying sustainably sourced seafood at fair prices. We also provide space for fishers and seafood entrepreneurs to create specialty products, adding value to local catches. Consumers can help by buying local and researching direct seafood markets. Consumers can help by buying local whenever possible and researching direct seafood markets.
